Paul van Ijsselstein

Until 1 May 2017 Paul van IJsselstein was CEO of LR Systems BV, a start-up company that he founded in September 2014, with responsibility for the development, production, support, marketing and sales of Large Robot systems, such as the Laser Coating removal Robot (LCR), a fast and sustainable state-ofthe-art solution for stripping paint and coatings from aircraft and helicopters. After 1 May 2017 Paul continues to stay involved in the company as co-owner and senior advisor. 
 
Paul has more than 30 years’ experience in the aerospace sector and has provided industrial leadership to many small- and medium size businesses. He is specialized in using an ‘out of the box’ approach to achieve unique ‘best of industry’ solutions for a global market. As CEO of the STRATAGEM Group Paul develops new ‘product-market combinations’ for the maintenance industry through market and product research and innovation. One of his recent appointments is President of ICRIT (Integrated Composite Repair, Inspection & Training), a consortium of SME’s that was established in 2015 for the development of new structural repair, NDT inspection and learning processes for the aircraft maintenance industry.  
 
Paul is leading the STRATAGEM Group since 2005. Before that he was vice president international business development for Boeing in Europe. In this responsibility, Paul coordinated the Group’s business development activities in Europe in the field of Army-, Navy- and Air force Programs, Satellite Systems, Homeland Security, Intelligence Systems, NASA Systems and Aerospace Support. From July 1999 until February 2002 Paul was posted in Canberra, Australia, as Corporate Regional Director of Thales Nederland. Until February 1999 he was senior vice-president & deputy CEO of Fokker Space BV in the Netherlands and President of Fokker Space Inc., Alexandria, VA. He joined the Fokker Company in January 1986, where he started as manager military programs, responsible for the marketing, sales and contracts group. He was nominated vice-president Defense Affairs at Fokker Aircraft USA Inc. in Alexandria VA in 1988. Before joining Fokker, Mr. van IJsselstein was policy director at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with responsibility for offset policy (naval programs), Defense technology development and Defense industrial base issues. 
 
He is a Member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Institute of Navigation and was included into 2012-2013 edition of the Who’s Who registry of executives as Professional of the Year. Paul served 20 years in the Royal Netherlands Navy.  During the last 4 years of his Navy career he was assigned to the British Ministry of Defense, based in Portland, Dorset. 

Rick van Opdorp

Mr van Opdorp started his career in the Royal Netherlands Air force, after completing the 4 year 
vocational training program at the Aircraft Maintenance & Training School as aircraft engineer. During 
this time Rick developed himself as a specialist in structural repair in fighter aircraft and helicopters.  As a specialist in structural repair he graduated from advanced technical and scientific courses at Boeing Training Systems & Services, the Airbus Helicopter Training Academy and the Agusta Westland 
Training Academy during the period 2007-2010. During his time in the Air force he built-up a significant knowledge of structural repair and inspection methods, particularly for helicopters. After retiring from the Air force Rick van Opdorp he started his own company and developed a unique practical & training concept for metal and composite structural repair. In 2015 he participated in a feasibility study for the repair of a primary structure for a maritime application in close relationship with a NDT inspection method.  
 
Since 2014 Rick is CEO of ACRATS Training Services B.V., a company that is specialized in providing 
engineering, consultancy and training services to aircraft maintenance organization worldwide, 
Universities for Applied sciences (Amsterdam and Breda Universities of Applied Sciences) and to other 
specialized organizations. Rick has been involved in composite repair masterclasses and  workshops 
for the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), the Republic Polytechnic University of Singapore (RP), the Military Technological College in Oman, the Brazilian Air Force and IPT (LEL) in SJC. During the period 2014-2015 he was involved in a research development project, aimed to qualify new (automated) composite repair processes. ACRATS is one of the driving forces and technology providers for the creation of a unique helicopter blade repair center within the maintenance depot of the Royal Netherlands Air force. 
 
Over a period of 2 years Rick has drafted various papers for the establishment of innovation and 
composite repair centers within various institutes worldwide. He is recognized within the international 
JEC Conference on Composites, representing,  promoting and expanding composites markets by 
providing global or local networking and information services.
